A driver coming off I-66 failed to yield to a dashcam owner on 27th, nearly causing a T-bone.
Washington D.C.-area driver and Redditor /u/BigMo555 shared eye-opening dashcam footage from the end of August (Aug 29, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver, hot off I-66, completely missing or ignoring the yield sign, almost t-boning OP as a result.
Check out the shocking dashcam footage for yourself below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened along 27th St. right before drivers got to Virginia Ave (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP turns onto 27th from Whitehurst.
As he passes the T-intersection with an I-66 off-ramp, a driver who should’ve seen a yield sign decides to brute force their way onto 27th without yielding at all.
Although visible in the dashcam video, here’s the Yield Sign as seen on Google Maps.

Thankfully, OP was paying attention and applied the emergency brakes in time, avoiding what would’ve been one nasty t-bone accident.
“I suspect that the sign in the shape of an upside-down triangle is a yield sign. It’s possible, however, that it is bright green and says “Punch it!,”” the top comment from /u/thelastmarblerye reads.
“Not only did they not yield, but they came around that curve hot. Like any faster and they’d have hit the median, kinda hot!” /u/StackThePads33 pointed out.
“Pulling this in a fish bowl red Subaru Legacy, it’s not really unexpected tbf /s,” /u/Franndly sarcastically added.
In Washington, D.C., failure to yield can result in a $100 fine (before any additional court fines and fees) and 2 points on your driving record, depending on the specific violation. If the maneuver nearly caused a crash, additional or more serious charges could apply depending on the circumstances.
