New Haven County-area driver and Redditor /u/Dobermanluver shared head-shaking dashcam footage from Lakewood Rd from earlier in September (Sept 14, 2026) to the /r/Dashcam subreddit, showing a driver turning left out of the Post Office totally botch it halfway and turn it from bad to worse by deciding to merge in front of a fast-approaching tow truck.

The incident happened in the 700-800 block of Lakewood across from the United States Post Office (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is headed northwest up Lakewood towards Main St.
A driver exiting the post office can be seen stopping perpendicular to the flow of traffic as they prematurely entered the roadway without a big enough gap in cross traffic.
Taking a risk, they brute-force their left turn, turning in front of a fast-approaching tow truck who now has to slow down to avoid rear-ending them.
The second half of the video shows a motorcycle rider approaching the intersection with Chase from Wigwam, ready to make a right-on-red without yielding, but is forced to come to a stop to avoid T-boning OP as he approached.
OP is met with an obscene hand gesture after honking at the motorcycle rider, that they were about to cause a collision.
“CT in general has horrible drivers….side note though, you might want to adjust the angle on your rear cam. You can’t really see anything if you were ever to get rear-ended (hopefully never,” the top comment from /u/Apprehensive_Fun1078 reads.
“That’s amateur bad driving compared to South Florida,” /u/gonewild9676 shared.
“This was definitely a mild day here, but it was my first time grabbing footage off the camera haha. Title references a recent study that says Waterbury won this year for worst drivers,” OP replied.
