Buncombe County-area driver and Redditor /u/RatFaceTG shared head-shaking dashcam footage from Sweeten Creek Rd from earlier in September (Sept 14, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing a speeding driver in a BMW attempting an overtake without a good look, almost resulting in a head-on collision.

As the dashcam shows, OP is headed north on Sweeten Creek towards Cimarron.
The speed limit in this area is 45 MPH, and OP is going slightly above that (at the speed of traffic)
Suddenly, the bright lights of a BMW can be seen fast approaching.
They seem ready to overtake without a solid look at cross traffic, which they do.
Their harebrained decision almost proves disastrous as cross traffic leaves no room for such a maneuver.
The driver in the BMW comes within a handful of feet of crashing head-on with opposing traffic, only saved by a last-second swerve out of the way by both drivers.
