This rider on a Lime Bike casually blew through a stop sign and immediatly saw a fast-approaching car with the right of way, ready to slam into him.

Downtown Seattle driver and Redditor /u/Kefizzle shared head-shaking dashcam footage from earlier in September (Sept 18, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a Lime Bike rider blasting through a stop sign and immediatly regretting it.

Here’s the close call below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Brooklyn Ave NE and NE 52nd St (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

OP is initially headed southbound on Brooklyn Ave towards the University District.

As he approaches the aforementioned intersection, OP hits 30 MPH.

The speed limit is 25 MPH.

Suddenly, a rider on a Lime Bike (sans helmet) appears from the right, blowing past the stop sign.

No, this is not an all-way stop, and OP has the right of way.

The rider’s face says it all; he immediatly regrets his careless riding.

This Lime Bike rider’s face.

OP panic stops and swerves to the left to avoid a collision, which he does, just barely.

It looks like the rider comes within inches of hitting his passenger fender, avoiding getting launched off his Lime Bike.

“Sorry,” the Lime Bike rider immediatly blurts out.

“I’m so sorry.“

“Pay attention to stop signs, dude,” OP replies shortly before the Lime Bike rider continues on.

“I’ve noticed that a lot of e-bike/e-scooter riders just blow through intersections without looking,” the top comment from /u/StackThePads33 reads.

“They don’t seem to think that road rules apply to them, but they do, and they’re actually there for protection. If the OP wasn’t quick to react, that person would be heading in an ambulance.”

In Seattle, a Lime bike rider who blows a stop sign can be cited under Washington’s traffic laws; bicyclists must either stop or, under the state’s bicycle stop-sign exception, slow to a reasonable speed and yield like at a yield sign. (Washington State Legislature) The violation is generally a $48 base penalty, and no driver’s-license points are assessed because it is a bicycle traffic infraction rather than a moving violation on a motor vehicle license.
