For some reason, this goofball used a turn lane to head into oncoming traffic.
Southern/Central Arlington area driver and Redditor /u/AspenHeartshep shared head-scratching dashcam footage from Eads & 20th from earlier in September (Sept 18, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing a confused driver using a turn lane to continue heading north, except they’ve turned into oncoming traffic.
Check out the harebrained move below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
As mentioned, the incident happened at the intersection of S Eads St. and 20 St. S in Central Arlington (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is heading south down Eads and slips into the left-turn lane onto 20th.
As he waits his turn, yielding, a confused driver in a white Toyota Highlander can be seen heading towards him, coming from the turn lane on the other side.
The driver in the Highlander continues past OP, driving against oncoming traffic.
“What are you doing?” OP exclaims. That’s the wrong way; what the f*** are you doing?”
‘That was so idiotic; I didn’t even catch what they did the first time I watched,” one of the top comments from /u/fluffynuckels reads.
“That’s just egregious. Wish I could see what they did after they straight up drove into the oncoming lane,” /u/markuus99 added.
“Why did you block their through lane? They were perfectly ready to pass that bus before you got in their way. /s,” /u/the_Russian_Five commented sarcastically
“Some people can’t be patient for two seconds. I hope they knew that the lane on your right was empty and didn’t just get lucky.”
In Arlington, VA, driving on the wrong side of the road is generally a $100 fine and 4 DMV demerit points for failure to drive on the right half of the highway/street. (law.lis.virginia.gov)
