An extremely late red-light run from this driver nearly ended in an expensive T-bone accident.

Cherry Creek-area driver and Redditor /u/Halp_dear10 shared head-shaking dashcam footage from this busy Denver intersection from earlier in September (Sept. 27, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing an extremely irresponsible driver blasting through a super-late red, nearly causing their own T-bone accident.

Here’s how it played out on dashcam below, with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of 2nd Ave. and University Blvd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP approaches the aforementioned quasi T-intersection ready to go straight through towards Comfort Dental.

Showing a green light for several seconds at that point, OP has the right of way.

OP crosses the limit line as his light turns yellow; however, from the right, a driver on University in a blue Mitsubishi Outlander, facing a red light, comes barreling through, and not showing any signs of stopping.

OP emergency brakes, coming within just a few feet of T-boning the careless driver.

Stunned, but aware of their near collision, OP continues on to his destination.

“Good save. What a dingus they are,” the top comment from /u/Fatpatty1211 reads.

“I hate this turn from 2nd to University and the amount of red light runners we have in Denver,” local /u/Trojandude added.

“This turn sucks, but I do it frequently and have never encountered this. I usually wait a few seconds after a green light, but this was green for a while,” OP replied.

In Denver, running a red light under DRMC §54-101 carries a $125 fine, plus applicable court costs and surcharges; it is a 4-point violation. (library.municode.com)

With typical added fees, the theoretical total is roughly $150–$160, although the exact amount depends on how the citation is processed.
