This late red-light runner decided to gun it after seeing red and paid a hefty price.
Phoenix-area driver and Redditor /u/StonedBoss shared head-shaking dashcam footage from this busy intersection from earlier in this week (Oct 19, 2026) to the /r/Dashcam subreddit, showing a late red-light runner paying the price by T-boning a left-turner, completing their turn after sitting in the middle of the intersection.
Here’s how it played out below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of Greenway Rd and 19th Ave. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is pointed south on 19th, waiting to turn left onto Greenway.
In front of him, drivers are completing their turns, with a handful moving several feet past the limit line, waiting for cross traffic to pass to complete said turns.
OP gets a protected green to go, but pauses, waiting for those blocking his way to complete their turns.
Keen eyes will notice cross traffic has already had a red for several seconds at this point.
However, a driver in a white Jeep Wrangler runs it, super late, and T-bones a driver in a silver Lincoln MKZ, already in a rush to complete their turn.
“After rewatching the video, I actually noticed you can see the red light in the far right of the video, next to the black car next to me. It turned red when the Jeep was 30+ ft from entering the intersection,” OP replied to a comment asking if the Jeep did indeed run the red.
“It is my video, but I was dumb and didn’t even think to give them the video. Well, between being sleepy and not realizing at the time that the Jeep ran a red, I wasn’t thinking “left driver got screwed” like I know now. I called the police to provide them the footage to hopefully get it to the driver.”
In Arizona, running a red light that causes a collision resulting in serious injury carries an enhanced penalty of 4 demerit points on your license and a fine of approximately $500. Additionally, any red-light collision violation mandates attendance at Traffic Survival School to prevent automatic driver’s license suspension.
