This doofus tried to be slick, using a gore point to pass, but likely screwed up their tire and suspension instead.

A downtown Fort Worth-area driver and Redditor /u/miscellaneousbean shared hilarious dashcam footage from earlier in October (Oct 7, 2026) on the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing a driver trying to be slick by using an area not meant for passing, only to end up damaging their Toyota’s front suspension instead.

Here’s the video below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened near the intersection of E Weatherford St. and N Pecan St. in the Sundance Square area of Ft. Worth (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is driving east on Weatherford, ready to go over the overpass that connects to the 121 and 35W.

If drivers stay in the rightmost lane, they swing around and are redirected onto Belknap headed west.

Here’s what that looks like on maps, with the incident location marked with a red star.

A driver in a Toyota Camry behind OP and before Pecan St, for whatever reason, perhaps to get ahead, swings to the rightmost lane but, upon realizing they’re now in the wrong lane, tries to swing back to Lane #2 (over the overpass) instead of re-routing.

They’d literally go around the block.

They’d overtake without incident, except they did so a little too late, overtaking in the gore point area.

Their passenger front tire hits the end of the gore point hard, an area with raised concrete, likely damaging a tire, wheel, and their suspension.

A close-up on Maps of this gore point is a testament to how often this happens.

“Hope the damage was worth the time saved,” OP titled their thread.

“I was going slow and being overly cautious because of that particular intersection. There’s a lot of traffic and lots of exits coming up. People like the curb jumper don’t realize which lane they need to be in and like to make sudden lane changes. I was probably being too cautious, but considering the person that flew in front of me…,” OP answered in the comments, clarifying other comments and criticism of their driving behaviour.

“Also, the camera captures the curb jumper before I saw them. I did not speed up to intentionally stop them; I sped up once to close the gap. I’ve been cut off before and sideswiped, so I tend to drive slowly. Was the gap too big? Probably.”

In Fort Worth, Texas, overtaking or crossing over a solid-striped gore zone is penalized as an illegal or unsafe lane change, carrying a base statutory fine of up to $200 before court costs. While Texas repealed its state-level surcharge point system in 2019, a moving violation conviction still adds 2 points to your active driving record (or 3 points if it results in an accident). These convictions remain visible on your driving history for three years, which can trigger insurance premium increases and count toward a potential license suspension. [1, 2, 3, 4]
