Footage shot before and during a vigil shows cyclists damaging and destroying a police SUV before a random car plows through their gathering

Tensions are high in South Los Angeles as a random driver took out his anger at cyclists blocking a major intersection by driving his car through a group of them. The cyclists were gathered for a vigil in remembrance of a cylist who passed away less than a day ago in a hit and run and to bring awareness to their plight. Now, thanks to people who were actually there earlier today (Apr. 11,2018) we have footage of what went down before a random car drove through their gathering. Check out the footage for yourself below.

The first video shows a police officer in his SUV cruiser trying his best to disperse a rowdy crowd of cyclists who turned a once peaceful vigil into an all-out circus, blocking cars from crossing the major intersection at Manchester Boulevard and Normandie Avenue. As mentioned, less than 24 hours before this clash of police and cyclists, a fellow cyclist was hit by a Porsche Cayenne SUV and later passed from his injuries. Police are still looking for that Porsche.

The cyclists can be seeing hitting and damaging the police cruiser as they aren’t taking kindly to a police presence. Suddenly, one car waiting at the intersection guns it in a blatant attempt to cause harm to the cyclists. Another car can be seen shortly before this slowing moving his way across the intersection as best he can so presumably this group of cyclists weren’t blocking cars that drove slow enough to get out of their way.

The second video shows the victim of the car ramming into them lying at the corner of the intersection apparently alive and aware of his surroundings. No word yet if he’s OK.

Here’s the video of the car drivinig into the cyclists on purpose thanks to KTLA 5.

Cyclists, just like cars, have every right to be on city streets. Respect and courtesy goes both ways with cyclists following all laws and drivers being aware that they must share the road space with cyclists. However, in this age of distracted driving and lack of courtesy, those aforementioned ideals are few and far between unfortunately resulting in accidents like this today and yesterday.

Hopefully, police will do their job and bring both these hit and run drivers into custody.
