Porsche adds two more variants to an already large choice of trim levels for the Porsche Panamera.

The more I blog about Porsche, the more I’m realizing it’s true, Porsche does a good job of adding a plethora of variants for every car in their lineup. Now, for the Panamera, there are two more trim levels available. As per Porsche in an official press release they dropped earlier this week (Oct. 16,2018) there’s Porsche Panamera GTS and Sport Turismo available with a more powerful engine, adaptive air suspension as standard and its own set of unique aero and interior add-ons.

The base Porsche Panamera with an attractive MSRP of just $85,000 comes standard with a V6 Turbo that puts out a respectable 325 HP and 332 lb-ft. The GTS and Sport Turismo swaps out the V6 Turbo for a twin turbo V8 with a generous 460 HP and 457 lb-ft. With all that power routed through an 8-speed automatic, you and your two passengers can all hit 60 MPH in 4.1 seconds and continue giving it the beans and you’ll all hit 181 MPH without breaking a sweat. It’s 1 MPH less in the Sport Turismo.

Standard on the GTS and Sport Turismo is Porsche adaptive air suspension which gives you variability in softness and firmness at the push of a button, and, like all air suspensions, you can raise or lower the front as needed if you need to get out of a steep driveway or want to lay it low to cut through the wind. Compared to the stock Panamera, the overall suspension system is lowered by 10mm.

Also standard on the Panamera GTS and Sport Turismo is the Sport Design package which blacks out the front, bottom of the rear and blacks out other odds and ends for that sportier look. The steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara as well as other interior bits.

Sport Turismo as the name doesn’t suggest, adds a bespoke rear bootlid, larger to allow even more cargo space out back. With Sport Turismo, you gain one more seatbelt with a 4+1 seating configuration. Looking at pictures, it looks like that +1 is really only for small kids who want to tuck their legs up to their chests or for a baby carrier.

CNET reports that the GTS and GTS Sport Turismo add $45,000ish and $50,000ish to the base MSRP for that extra power, handling, and unique rear boot lid.

Now I’m beginning to understand how Porsche makes its profit.
