If you’re thinking about scooping up Varis’s latest widebody kit for the newest gen Subaru WRX STI and S4, look no further than @Sky08_g’s demo car for an idea of what it should look like.
Runduce, one of the most respected engine tuners in Japan known for its engine tuning, suspension, and brake systems for JDM GT cars and dropping some of the dopest demo cars that side of the Pacific, collaborated with another legendary aero parts maker, Varis sometime earlier last year and announced a collab aero kit for the newest WRX STI. As per The Race Studio wrap specialist and owner Devyn Bandonillo on his Instagram earlier this weekend (Oct. 28,2018) he had the pleasure of fabricating and applying a Varis-inspired decal design drawing inspiration from previous generation kits.
When you applying the finishing touches to an aero kit that costs half of the price of the car, it’s all in the execution to make it look right and these decals look to be the finishing touch this car needed to tie it all together.
This kit is no joke. When I mentioned that it costs half the price of the car, it was no small exaggeration. Presumably, this demo car issporting the entire Varis catalog possibleso that means we’re talking about the Full Wide Body Kit complete with carbon fiber front lip and underboards.
For $7,000 the full wide body kit comes with a new Front bumper, front lip, front fenders, side skirts with carbon fiber running boards, rear fenders, side air panels, and rear bumper. That a 20 piece kit alone.
This demo car also sports all the additional accessories including the double canards, carbon heat shield, rear diffuser for the rear bumper, GT Wing including mounting brackets, Carbon bonnet hood, and Carbon trunk. Assuming that Varis hooked him up with the best materials, all those additional accessories add another $8,000 if he paid out of pocket.
So ya, in total, you’re looking at a $15,000 aero kit. Hey, you gotta pay to play.
What results is a WRX Sti unlike any other. I doubt he’ll be driving this rolling JDM masterpiece on regular streets without some serious pre-drive reconnaissance.
If you’re at SEMA, check out this one-of-a-kind STI for yourself at the Varis booth!
