Hours after an officer-involved shooting in Englewood, protesters and looters alike took to the streets to vent their frustration.

It was mayhem and lawlessness in Downtown Chicago earlier last night (Aug 9,2020) as thousands of angry looters and a handful of peaceful protesters took to the streets following an officer-involved shooting in Englewood earlier that day. Among the stores hit included Apple, Dior, other high-end boutiques and one Tesla showroom on Rush St.

Smartphone footage from the scene shows the shocking moment an alleged stolen Audi was used to break into a Dior store.

Also, rooftop footage shows what happened when looters smashed through the lobby of a Tesla Showroom on Rush St.

Check out the footage for yourself below.

In the first video we see a mid-2000’s white Audi slamming into the front of a Dior store, a high-end designer and clothing brand known for their beauty products and branded bags.

Here’s that spot on Google Maps.

The next bit of footage shows dozens of protesters rushing into a Tesla store, presumably to destroy property, as stealing Teslas would not behoove those who want to keep a clean record.

Features like GPS tracking, sentry mode to film potential thieves, and add-on pin-codes to get these cars to start makes them difficult to steal.

And even if you drove one off, harvesting the batteries and electric motor to sell for parts is not as easy as popping the hood and cherry-picking the motor out.

A quick look on Google Maps reveals this particular Tesla store is nothing more than a showroom with a handful of cars to test drive. Since it’s not a service center, these looters didn’t make off with any special service tools.

Until I come across photos and videos from inside, I’m going to assume a handful of cars were destroyed and property damaged, not as bad as that Dodge dealership in San Leandro, Calif I reported on earlier this year were dozens of cars were stolen.
