This is mostly about the power of a random act of kindness with a hint of manual transmission appreciation.

Ready for a trip on the feels train?

A former Lyft driver, who now wishes to remain anonymous, shared on Twitter how she got a text back from a passenger four years after giving him a ride.

It’s important to know she used a car with a manual transmission for Lyft.

One night driving for Lyft in 2019, she picked up a particularly depressed passenger.

This particular passenger JUST went through a break-up, was devastated, and, didn’t feel like living anymore. He also mentioned how, unlike his Lyft driver, he couldn’t drive a manual transmission.

For whatever reason, she took pity on this poor kid and taught him how to drive a manual transmission in a WalMart parking lot right then and there, rough gear changes and all.

She, for the most part, forgot about that night, until she randomly got a text back from him four years later.

Check out what her once depressed passenger said below.

And, here’s the tweet recounting that one night in 2019.

As you can imagine, her post went absolutely viral. She has since then deleted that tweet, reason given below.

With fewer manual transmission cars on the road today, finding an opportunity to learn on one is becoming harder for new drivers.

Manual car owners, like this Lyft driver, whether they realize it or not, have the chance to pass on their skills to who want to learn.

She had a crossroads moment where she could’ve easily finished her drive, dropped the kid off, and, continued on with her night.

Instead, she chose kindness, took some time out of her work, not to mention lots of clutch material (no good deed goes unpunished, ) and passed on her skills to him.

Whether that kid would’ve been OK regardless of her kindness, who knows.

What we do know is her random act of kindness set him on a new path, one resulting in a new outlook on life, a motorcycle, a new love, and two kids.

It’s a story worth remembering the next time someone you know asks you to learn something you’re already proficient at.
