The Challenger was caught on camera trying to race a graveyard shift worker moments before.

Presumed Baton Rouge, Louisiana resident and Redditor /u/MaskedDullahan got an interesting start to 2024 after a chance encounter with a driver in a Ford Mustang itching to race on his way home from work.

/u/MaskedDullahan shared dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the surprising moment he captured showing the aftermath of said Mustang giving up on making him race to chase a Dodge Challenger instead.

The Challenger seems to have taken a 110 exit a little too fast, causing him to screech out of control and into a traffic sign.

Check out the dashcam footage for yourself below.

The accident happened at the Scotlandville/Baker/Exit 8A off the 110 in Baton Rouge, LA (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s footage shows, he’s driving along 110 in the fast lane.

“Was on my way home from a work emergency at 2am…Right before the clip starts, I passed that Ford Mustang and another vehicle by moving to the far left lane. The Mustang blew past me and slammed on his brakes and waited for me to catch up, which is right when the video starts. “

“You can see his headlights in the lane next to me as he gets on an off the gas, trying to get me to race him until the Challenger goes past us.”

We then see the Mustang accelerate to triple digit speeds to catch up to the Challenger, both speeding out of view.

The video fast forwards a minute later and OP happens to exit where both the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger also exited.

It looks like the driver in the Challenger didn’t realize he was on an off-ramp exit, took the turn at too high of a speed, skidded out of control, and took out an added lane right turn sign, too.

Surprisingly, the driver in the Ford Mustang stopped to check out the Challenger driver to make sure they’re OK.

“There is usually an office sitting there as a speed trap. The driver of the Challenger was okay, just shaken up a bit,” OP commented, updating us on what happened next.

It’s not uncommon to come across drivers and their high-speed antics in the middle of the night/early morning.

It’s best to do what OP did and to not engage.
