A reckless driver was caught on camera weaving through traffic moments before rear ending a police vehicle.
Aurora resident and Redditor /u/Painda posted up shocking dashcam footage from Feb 6, 2024 to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the moment a reckless driver weaving through traffic got served a healthy dose of instant karma when they slammed into the back of an Aurora Police cruiser shortly thereafter.
Check out his dashcam footage below.
I225 Last Week [OC]
byu/painda inIdiotsInCars
The incident happened on I-225 in Aurora, CO just after traffic from Colfax Ave. merges with I-225 traffic and before the 6th Ave. exit (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s video shows, we can see a driver in a black Ford Fusion weaving back and forth in I-225 traffic.
“I was stuck in the beginning of rush hour traffic when the incident occurred. I’ve gone over the footage countless times, and I really can’t explain what I saw with a medical emergency. “
The driver in the Ford Fusion cuts across multiple lanes towards the right-most lane and presumably wasn’t looking because they then slammed into the back of an Aurora Police Cruiser.
“You can see another small accident with the driver and a car in the left lane. Then, the driver stays on the shoulder in a straight line for a considerable amount of time before making the stunningly idiotic move. “
“At this point, my best guess is weaving through traffic while actively looking at their phone (which I have seen in Aurora before), or the driver was absolutely wasted. I can’t believe that someone would be stupid enough to do this intentionally.”
OP confirms that he gave the footage to police which, I’m sure they’ll appreciate using to expedite charges against the offending driver in the Fusion.
“I wondered to myself, why is everyone going a nice consistent speed…ohhh yeah, a police car,” /u/Nova_Nightmare commented.
“Oh, this is the most egregious car related f*** up I’ve ever seen on video. Damn,” /u/TragedyAnnDoll added.
“Big Aurora Energy here,” /u/ThrowingTheRinger humorously clarifies.
This is yet another reminder to keep your wits about you and to drive defensively at all times.
You never know what’s happening around you, even if traffic seems to be moving along peacefully.
