The dump truck is supposedly owner by Nutter Corp.
A dump truck supposedly owner by Nutter Corp, was caught on camera yesterday (June 20, 2024) driving through a busy intersection in Vancouver, WA with its bed still raised, taking out an entire traffic light pole in the process, and it was all caught on camera.
The incident was shared by Reddit user /u/Username460 on the /r/IdiotsinCars subreddit.

The incident took place at the intersection of SE 192nd Ave and SE 1st St across from Costco (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the video shows, the dump truck driver approaches the aforementioned intersection and, with the dump truck’s bed still raised, the driver takes a left turn like he normally would.
The raised bed makes contact with the row of traffic light poles, causing it to bend a good 90 degrees before crashing to the ground.
Fortunately, it looks like no one was hurt in the incident.
Tow truck driver James Winfrey was first on the scene and provided this drive-by earlier yesterday.
Contrary to what Winfrey captioned his video with, according to /u/Username460, the dump truck driver stuck around.
“It was considered an accident as construction work is going on right by it,” /u/Username460 replied.
“The truck driver stayed and police and workers arrived to help get the light out of the road.”
“It wasn’t stolen,” OP confirmed, dispelling any rumors.
” I actually found out who the driver was through a few different people, and he is just an idiot.”
Apparently, this sort of accident isn’t all that rare.
A dump truck in Northern Virginia hit an I-66 overpass just last May, much in the same way this dumptruck in WA did.

In February, a dump truck in Dayton, OH hit an overpass on US-35.
And in 2023, a handful of dump trucks hit public infrastructure, too.
According to /u/FastInRain, the main cause of this isn’t just being careless driving out of the construction site, but not keeping up with preventative maintenance.
“The leaky valve they refuse to service will slowly raise the bed when the RPMs hit highway speeds instead of recirculating the oil back to reservoir.”
“They get underway and this thing doesn’t just go up like instantly, but the US is set up with highways everywhere so in the minute or two it takes to raise, if the driver doesn’t notice, he covers 2-3 miles of road, inevitably finds a bridge.”
“Drivers don’t forget to lower the bed… they forget to lock it in place.“
If you own or drive dump trucks, take these stories as cautionary tales to keep up with your preventative maintenance.
