Police are actively investigating this multi-car collision caused by a crossover driver on I-91 who almost came to a complete stop, causing a chain reaction, multi-car collision.
Semi-truck driver and Redditor /u/Ornery_Ads posted unbelievable dashcam footage from Windsor, Connecticut from earlier this weekend (Aug 23, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a black crossover almost coming to a complete stop on I-91 just so they could cut across and make their exit.
As a result, the crossover driver caused a multi-car collision involving another semi, a Honda Odyssey van, and a red Subaru WRX.

The collisions occurred on I-91 in Windsor, Conn. just after exit 35A onto Manchester (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam video shows, he’s driving in his semi in Lane #3.
18 seconds in, screenshot below, a driver in what looks like a Mazda or Nissan crossover slams on their brakes.
This causes the semi following them to brake hard and swerve to the left.
In the semi truck’s blind spot is a driver in a red Subaru WRX.
Although it looks like the WRX gets clipped, the semi-truck driver avoids hitting the Subaru as confirmed by the actual WRX driver who showed up in the Reddit thread comments.
“The truck went into my lane,” /u/Mr_Browniez, the WRX driver replied to a comment.
“I hit a divet in the HOV (lane) and it caused me to lose control sadly. I wasn’t hurt.”
After losing control, the WRX gets pointed a good 90 degrees, sending the WRX careening toward the rear of a Honda Odyssey.
The Honda Odyssey spins in reverse, the Odyssey reversing, unfortunately, into the path of said Semi.
The Odyssey gets clipped by the semi before coming to a stop.
The driver in the Subaru WRX finally comes to a stop in the grassy area between exit 35A and I-91.
As for the driver who caused it all, they drive away unscathed, not even braking to stop to take any responsibility.
As this just happened a few days ago, it’s still an ongoing situation and investigation.
“The driver at fault was the one who cut two lanes (to get to their exit,)” /u/Mr_Browniez explained.
“We have license plate info too, and I’ll update with more info soon,” he promised.
“Semi should have just plowed into the idiot instead of taking out the red car (who then took out the minivan). I wish karma was real because the biggest idiot got away without a scratch,”/u/Al_Tilly_the_Bum commented.
“They should show this in trucker school. Trucker should have rear-ended the only one who deserved it. Now red car got wrecked, and there may be life-changing injuries in grey van,” said /u/BrockSamsonLikesButt
“Jeez, the person who caused all this chaos, just exits and drives off. The truck driver should have just driven through, the collateral damage that the swerving caused isn’t worth saving the black vehicle Darwin maneuvering,” /u/RLBeau1964 added.
With video evidence, the one who caused the accident might be on the hook for reckless driving, failure to maintain minimum speed, illegal lane change, unsafe maneuver, failure to signal, failure to yield, crossing a diagonal barrier, and what at least one Redditor called a hit-and-miss.
But with proving who was actually behind the wheel and dealing with the accidents after the fact, getting charges to stick might be a challenge.
