By breaking this unwritten rule, this Trump supporter is pushing these Car Show organizers closer to canceling the show in the future.
New Yorker and Redditor /u/HiFiGuy197 shared head-shaking smartphone footage from Brewster, NY from earlier this last weekend (Aug 25, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a Dodge Challenger doing a burnout exiting the Brewster Elks Annual Car Show and getting pulled over right after.
Check out the iPhone footage below.
Thanks for attending our car show. Get home safe and remember: no burnouts [oc]

The incident happened off the 1400 block of NY-22 just outside the local Elks Lodge. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
The video was taken as cars were exiting the Brewster Elks Annual Car Show, a flyer posted below.
As mentioned, an unwritten rule of car shows is to respect the venue, usually meaning no excessive revving and risky driving (and that includes burnouts, donuts, speeding, etc.)
According to /u/HiFiGuy197, a state trooper was directing traffic out of the show so, you’d think car show attendees exiting would act accordingly.
We see a driver in a Purple Dodge Challenger flying an enormous Trump Train flag pull out and, after driving down Route 22, they slam on the loud pedal to rip a fat burnout.
“…a county sheriff was just waiting in line.”
The sheriff, seeing this play out right in front of him, flips a U-turn and lights the Challenger up.
Exhibition of speed in New York is subject either to up to 30 days in jail, a fine between $200 and $525 before all the fees, or both.
“Great way to ruin opportunities for future car shows. Absolute idiot,” /u/GellyBelli commented.
“We lost our weekly summer car show because some young do**he in a Mustang showed off and plowed into a telephone pole when exiting the parking lot. The host mall and their insurance company feared possible liability and no more shows,” /u/optoph added.
“It’s almost like I knew who the di**head was going to be as soon as they entered the scene, I wonder why that is. 🤔,” /u/BeingRightAmbassador commented what everyone is thinking.
There are reasons why this type of behavior isn’t tolerated.
For one, it’s dangerous. YouTube is full of videos of muscle cars losing control leaving car shows, crashing, and often injuring people.
While this Elks Lodge is arguably “in the cuts” car shows are often held on private properties where it’s common courtesy to respect other people.
I get it, it’s no fun owning a fast car with nowhere to unleash all those horsepowers.
But, there’s a time and place for that.
Ripping a burnout on a crowded, two-lane highway, especially after a car show, is just not it.
Not a dashcam, but iPhone (so much panning!)
And also a state police car parked behind the camera, so we couldn’tve parked there if we wanted to. lol
