This red light runner blindly followed another red light runner, but was the unfortunate one to get pulled over for it.
Presumed Buckeye and Redditor /u/b_dog73 shared bewildering dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from earlier in August (Aug 28, 2024) from Chillicothe showing the harebrained moment a redlight runner blindly drove into an intersection, dodging cars, before getting pulled over.
Check out the confusing incident playing out below.
“[oc]” Red Light Runners with a convenient cop

The red light running happened at the intersection of US-50 (E Main St.) and OH-104 (N/S Bridge St.) in Chillicothe (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
In the video we can see OP stopped at the aforementioned intersection, waiting for his turn to drive across.
Suddenly, with traffic still going across OH-104, a driver in a blue Jeep Compass runs his red light and turns left through the intersection.
What OP explained was a confused following driver, we then see a driver in a dark gray Chevrolet Impala follow the Compass into the intersection and, while dodging turning cars from the other side, also runs their red light.
An Ohio police officer, observing this all play out in front of him as he waited to turn, sees the Impala drive by him.
The inevitable happens and he turns on his reds and blues as he pulls over the offending red light runner.
First-time red light runners in Ohio are subject to a fine of up to $150 and two points on their record.
“How do people miss the red light? Like it’s right f***ing there… how do you explain yourself?,” /U/Solid_Snake_125 frustratingly commented.
“How can people be so impatient?,” /u/Donduff wondered.
I can only assume, bolstered by my own experience, that these drivers zoned out and were not paying attention, perhaps reinforced by driving in a predictable small-town USA day after day.
Driving is an activity where we always must be on our toes, driving defensively and with full attention at all times.
Hopefully, a red light ticket is a wake-up call that driver needs.
