Two drivers brute-forced their way past a dashcam owner, who stopped to yield for a pedestrian.

Erie County-area driver and Redditor /u/NC130295 shared headshaking dashcam footage from downtown Waterford from earlier at the end of July (July 25, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a pair of inconsiderate drivers brute-forcing their way past this stopped dashcam owner, who initially stopped to let an elderly pedestrian cross.

Check out how they broke this simple rule of the road below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of PA-97/High St. and 1st St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is driving southbound down PA-97 through the city of Waterford and stops at the aforementioned intersection.

A nice ol’ lady has signaled to traffic that she intends to cross, and does so.

OP stops, which, for whatever reason, confuses drivers behind them, who take matters into their own hands without asking themselves, “Why did someone stop?”

They break the rules of the road, maneuver around OP and, worst of all, in front of the pedestrian.

The second driver in the red Honda Civic doesn’t even slow or give a courtesy wave of apology.

Thankfully, the lady is nowhere near them and is able to cross safely, albeit without incident.

“This is the dumbest move in all of driving. “Car in front of me stopped… It’s probably for no reason, I’ll just drive around them,” the top comment from /u/fr0gfish reads.

This makes mad. I would be tempted to ask the police to start writing tickets at that intersection. I don’t usually care about people spreading or breaking traffic laws, but this is completely unacceptable. I’ve seen pedestrians nearly sideswiped with that behavior while I was stopped for a pedestrian,” /u/zerostar83 added.

“I’ve gotten out of the car (as a passenger) and stopped and acted as a crossing guard more than once at this intersection bc usually opposing traffic doesn’t stop,” OP, the dashcam owner, replied.

In Waterford, PA, failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk is a summary offense with a $50 fine (around $180 after all the fees) and 2 points on your driving record. (PA General Assembly) The driver must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians crossing in a marked crosswalk. (PA General Assembly)
