This lowrider putting on a show for this California crowd is going to have to go back to the drawing board after his suspension setup gave out on him in spectacular fashion.
Building lowriders is truly automotive art but when you cross over to making a Lowrider with serious hops, it almost becomes an art where mechanics meets solid engineering. According to this video that’s making its way around Facebook posted by Chicali Streetz from earlier this weekend (Jan 14, 2018) this lowrider and his master mechanic found out that more reinforcements in key areas will be needed if he wants to make a return to the show circuit anytime soon. Check out the unbelievable video for yourself below.
Whereas some lowrider builds go all-out in paint and suspension parts, this Lincoln Continental focused more on the later in order to achieve some major hops. In the video, you can see the lowrider in competition mode with his super long rear suspension already in the air to gain as much vertical lift in the front as possible. That does mean the rear suspension will take a good amount of abuse as the front end hits the ground after coming back from a hop. With good rear cylinders, this should be no problem, but if you’re not entirely sure about the condition of your rear cylinder or if they weren’t set up correctly, disaster could strike at any moment when the cylinder seals blow up in spectacular fashion.
In the middle of a hop, out of nowhere, his rear cylinders fail sending the entire rear of his Lincoln Continental not only crashing to the ground, but with the rear cylinders locked into position, the suspension itself pierces the chassis of the lowrider, leaving holes that he’ll definitely have to “patch up” if he wants to hop again.
Credit where credit is due, cars were never made to hop in the first place so to make one gain some height reliably is an accomplishment.
Hopefully, this dude sorts his ride out and is hopping on the streets of California in no time.
